We do a lot of work with Chris from Rose County Interiors who was commissioned by a client in Maidwell, Northamptonshire to build and install a new kitchen island for their home. Chris contacted us to paint the island for him but we were also requested by the client to refinish their existing kitchen cabinets as they were looking a bit tired and dated and they wanted to give them a fresh look to match the new island. Once Chris and his team had installed the island and the new worktops were installed by Algarve Granite we were ready to begin the transformation.

As with every job, we begin by removing all the doors and drawer fronts. Once they are removed they are wrapped and loaded onto the van to take back to the workshop. We then taped up all the edges of the kitchen along the floor and up the walls and placed protection mats down to protect the floor. Once everything is removed and taped up we could begin sanding. We provide a Dustless Sanding service using our Mirka sander which elements most of the dust particles and keeps the mess to an absolute minimum. 

That evening, we took the doors back to the workshop, unwrapped them and removed all the hinges ready to be prepped the next day. As the existing kitchen had been painted poorly previously we had to completely strip them back of their previous finish before we could begin priming them and getting the ready for the final coats of paint.

After a lot of prep work on the kitchen, we could begin painting the kitchen cabinet doors and drawers in the workshop and the frame at the clients home. We always recommend to the client to chose a paint from the Benjamin Moore colour range as we have found this paint to give the best finish possible in comparison to other paints. It's a durable paint and leaves a beautiful flat finish that is easy to maintain and touch up if required. The colour chosen for this kitchen painting project was Pale Oak which is a soft and subtle colour which looks beautiful in a traditional home. After 3 coats of paint the doors were ready to be returned and re-fitted to the kitchen & island.

This was a great project to work on, the mix of the old kitchen being refinished to match the newly installed island along with the new worktops has totally transformed this kitchen. The clients were delighted with the outcome and were amazed at how we got such a great finish on their existing kitchen especially when it had been painted so poorly before. The colour chosen by them really suited the home and will now last them for years to come.
